Following a triumphant set at Glastonbury Festival and five stunning sold-out shows at the Old Vic, Rufus will make his return to the UK for a very special ten date October tour. With Release the Stars, his fifth album in a decade, Wainwright artfully establishes the intimacy he was reaching for, while creating a work even more ambitious in scope than his acclaimed 2004 release, Want Two.

Release The Stars features collaborations with Sian Phillips, Mairus de Vries and Neil Tennant, who also serves as the album’s executive producer. His other recent projects include composing the music for maverick choreographer Stephen Petronio’s new work, BLOOM; guest-starring on the Pet Shop Boys’ British live disc, Concrete and cutting tracks for the films Meet the Robinsons and History Boys.

On 23 Sept 07, he also plans to recreate the Judy Garland set-list at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, exactly 46 years after the legendary performance took place.
