Burns Club of London: Thames Cruise on Waverley
Saturday, 29 September 2007, 9:00am - 8:45pm by SILadmin

This event is open to members of the Burns Club of London and their guests.

We board the famous paddle steamer at Tower Pier at 9am, with spectacular views of HMS Belfast and the Tower of London, and steam through the open span of Tower Bridge to Whitstable via Southend and return to Tower Pier at 8.40pm.

The cruise on the paddle steamer Waverley last September was very enjoyable and our President has made a group booking for a similar cruise on 29th September. Last year's curise was a sell-out so you should book really early if you wish to be included in the party this year.

Waverley celebrates her Diamond Jubilee in 2007! Sail back in time on one of the world's Greatest Historic Ships - magnificiently restored with her towering funnels, timber decks, gleaming varnish and brass. See and hear the mighty engines with their sweet smell of steam and oil as you enjoy breathtaking views and vistas of the Thames Estuary. Dine or relax with a drink in the warmth of the beautifully saloons, send a postcard or shop for a souvenir. Pleasure steamers have sailed on the South Coast of England and the Thames since Victorian days and Waverley brings back this great tradition each year. Recapture happy memories, visit new places for a trip to remember.
