LONDON: A Labyrinth of Delight: A Journey through Edinburgh University Library's Special Collections
Thursday, 15 November 2007, 6:00pm - 8:30pm by SILadmin

A Talk by Dr. John Scally, Director of Special Collections

Dr. Michael Cross, Chairman of the Carlyle Cirle, has extended a personal invitation on behalf of Dr. john Scally, Director of Special Collections, for Club members and their (single) guest to attend his talk on the University's Special Collections.

The Carlyle Circle Group is a group of University benefactors united by a shared interest in the University. Members are invited to some of the special events, receptions and lectures held at the University.

William Drummond is remembered as one of the earliest benefactors to the University through his gift of nearly half of his magnificient library. It was upon his generous gift, and those from Drummond, and Clement Litill before him in 1580, that the Library built up its many collections over the last four hundred years. Dr. Scally will take us on a journey through some of the highlights of the University's treasures.

The evening will begin with a drinks and canapes reception followed by a talk with the opportunity for questions and answers afterwards.

Dr. Scally and Dr. Cross would be delighted if you are able to join them. To book a place at the talk please send your name, address and name of any guest you wish to take to the address appended.

Location: Butcher's Hall 87 Bartholomew Close, London, EC1A 7EB
Contact: Ms Wendy Hill, The Carlyle Circle, The University of Edinburgh, 9-16 Chambers Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1HT.
This event is only open to members of the Edinburgh University Club in London. Tel: 0131 650 8119.
