Alasdair Smith is going to run the evening and asks that any piper who wishes to play call him or email him in advance so he can have an idea of who is coming so that as many as possible can have a tune.
However the evening is not just for pipers, anyone else is welcome to come along and listen and have a drink and a chat. If you haven't been along before, or are not a society member but interested in this event or piping generally, then you are particularly welcome.
The format for pipers will be as at the last Mudlark session. Each piper should prepare a set of individual tunes suitable to play in front of other pipers and enthusiasts in the form of a mini 15 minute recital consisting of;
- A four parted 6/8 March;
- A four parted March, Strathspey and Reel;
- The Ground or Urlar of a Piobaireachd;
- A four parted Hornpipe and Jig or two tunes of own choice.
You are also asked to give a little introduction to your recital, name the tunes, perhaps a wee story about your choices and then fire away...tuning time must be minimal.
