The Sportsman’s Charity was founded in 1983 by former Scottish rugby international John Frame and David Maclean, who wished to help provide the opportunities they had enjoyed as sportsmen, for others less fortunate than themselves. The Charity has now raised over £2 million to help the disabled and under privileged with sporting activities.
Our principal target in the Championships is to raise funds to provide residential summer golf scholarships in Scotland for deserving youngsters; boys and girls aged 11-15, nominated by the clubs taking part in the Championships. More about The Sportsman’s Charity on www.sportsmanscharity.com
Our 2006 Winners Our 2006 Winners at Royal Mid-Surrey, Professor David Purdie and legendary Pinstripe Highlander Stuart Murray, seen here being congratulated by our guest of honour BBC Sport’s Jill Douglas, went on to win the Kingsbarns Cup in April of this year on the second day of the St Andrews Day Championships in St Andrews.
