The richest indoor meet in the world, the Norwich Union International Match,
returns to Kelvin Hall on Saturday, January 26 – your first opportunity
to see our stars in action in this crucial year of competition, as the
final build up to the Olympic Games begins.
Expect some world class performances. The match brings out the best
in everyone, as they strive to win the Norwich Union World Team Trophy.
In 2007 GB shared the prize last year with USA AND Germany.
It was at the last International that sprinter Craig Pickering
stormed to prominence with a personal best of 6.55 seconds in the 60m
beating Olympic medallists Jason Gardener and Mark Lewis-Francis,
whilst top Swede, Christian Olsson, who has held European, World and
Olympic titles, set a new stadium record of 17.20 metres in the triple
jump.
As local track heroine Lee McConnell said recently "The Norwich Union International always gets the season off to a flyer."
