The Mountain Festival is packed with films, lectures, workshops, exhibitions and cultural
events. It is an amazing showcase of everything that you can enjoy
outdoors in 'The Outdoor Capital of the UK'. Fort William and Lochaber
are surrounded by the rich and remarkable culture of the Highlands of
Scotland, a thriving culture that encompasses song, theatre, art,
photography, poetry and music. The Mountain Festival encompasses all
aspects of mountain culture and aims to involve the whole community, to
make everyone aware of the potential of this area.
The Mountain Festival is presented by The Nevis Partnership, a charity formed in 2003 with
the express intent to guide future policies and actions to safeguard,
manage and where appropriate enhance the environmental qualities and
opportunities for visitor enjoyment and appreciation of the Nevis area.
After the success of the 2007 film competition the Mountain Festival
is creating another opportunity for film makers from across the globe.
Our aim is to celebrate mountain life and culture, giving both amateur
and professional filmmakers an opportunity to show their work and share
their passion for mountain culture. With support from OCUK the prizes
for the Film Competition are bigger than any other mountain film
competition in the UK.
We are very excited to announce the first ever British Slacklining
Championships that will be staged during the Mountain Festival 2008.
Slacklining is a unique and wonderful way to develop understanding of
movement and focus. Slacklining is also ridiculously good fun and the
championships promise to be a spectacular event.
