The Mountain Festival is packed with films, lectures, workshops, exhibitions and culturalevents. It is an amazing showcase of everything that you can enjoyoutdoors in 'The Outdoor Capital of the UK'. Fort William and Lochaberare surrounded by the rich and remarkable culture of the Highlands ofScotland, a thriving culture that encompasses song, theatre, art,photography, poetry and music. The Mountain Festival encompasses allaspects of mountain culture and aims to involve the whole community, tomake everyone aware of the potential of this area.

The Mountain Festival is presented by The Nevis Partnership, a charity formed in 2003 withthe express intent to guide future policies and actions to safeguard,manage and where appropriate enhance the environmental qualities andopportunities for visitor enjoyment and appreciation of the Nevis area.

After the success of the 2007 film competition the Mountain Festivalis creating another opportunity for film makers from across the globe.Our aim is to celebrate mountain life and culture, giving both amateurand professional filmmakers an opportunity to show their work and sharetheir passion for mountain culture. With support from OCUK the prizesfor the Film Competition are bigger than any other mountain filmcompetition in the UK.

We are very excited to announce the first ever British SlackliningChampionships that will be staged during the Mountain Festival 2008.Slacklining is a unique and wonderful way to develop understanding ofmovement and focus. Slacklining is also ridiculously good fun and thechampionships promise to be a spectacular event.
