SCOTS IN SCOTLAND - To See the World as Others See Us
From Thursday, 22 January 2009
To Wednesday, 30 September 2009
Every day
by SILadmin Hits : 6120

This unique, innovative photographic project produced by photographers Tricia Malley and Ross Gillespie aims to heighten awareness and appreciation of Robert Burns whilst showcasing the talents of some of today's most noteworthy Scots. The blend of considered responses from the sitters and the use of contemporary portraiture has produced a body of work that is interesting, informative, engaging, amusing and thought provoking. The 20 subjects have been drawn from many walks of life ranging from actors, novelists, politicians, entrepreneurs, musicians and poets to a Clan Chief, an Ayrshire farmer and a Human Rights lawyer. The exhibition includes texts by Professor David Purdie and Julie Lawson Senior Curator, Scottish National Portrait Gallery. The portraits have a strong visual impact and depict the diversity of people, lifestyles, and cultures, which contribute to the making of today's multi-layered Scotland. The responses reflect the lasting influence of Burns and the affection in which he is held.

There will be an accompanying book with pictures and texts published by Luath Press which is available for pre-order and to buy from 12th February 2009.

'as others see us' will run at the Scottish Parliament until 14th February, after which it will tour venues around Scotland until August. For more information and updates visitwww.broaddaylightltd.co.uk
