An exciting lineup of poetry, performers, art and music to celebrate Scotland's most famous bard, Robert Burns. From Burns impersonators to barn-stomping bands, this will be one big Burns Day celebration and marks the start of our programme of events for Homecoming 2009.

Bring your children along to free drop-in sessions with one of the best Scot's language writers Matthew Fitt, author of the hugely popular children's books 'Wee Moose in the Hoose' and the translation of Roald Dahl's 'The Twits', known nationwide as 'The Eejits'.

Christopher Tait, the worlds' leading Robert Burns impersonator, will entertain visitors with poetry and song. Your chance to find out about Burns' life, his work and to enjoy live performances of his verse.

Music will be provided by a strong line up of talented traditional musicians. Findlay Napier and the Bar Room Mountaineersblend traditional Scottish styles with musical inspiration from America. Their fantastic songs tell stories of Scots' lives and adventures at home and abroad. The Homecoming String Bandwill close the day in style with a real Hootenanny! Bringing their energetic rhythmic music to the museum, the band will turn Hawthornden Court into a foot stomping barn dance for the whole family!
