Mossgiel Farm, Mauchline, was home to Robert Burns, the Ploughman Poet, from 1782-1784. There he wrote some of his best poetry, including To a Mouse. A celebratory ploughing match organised by Mauchline Burns Club honours Homecoming year in particular Burns' immortalisation of the Scottish countryside and humble farm life.
