The sixth Caithness & Sutherland Walking Festival will take place from 2-9 May 2009, as part of Homecoming 2009. We are grateful to our sponsors and supporters from both the public and private sectors to collaborate to make this event the great success that it is. The event is organised by the Dunnet Head Educational Trust, a Scottish registered charity (SC035021). We have teamed up with the charity site www.everyclick.com to bring a 7ft mouse to Caithness which will be great fun for the children. Walks include a 5 mile Nordic walk with the Forestry Commission, great bird watching walks with the RSPB, a walk at the most northerly point of the UK mainland, Dunnet Head, and over in Sutherland, a coastal walk with the Highland Council Ranger. A walk and wildlife cruise at John o Groats is also on the programme, as well as music with the Wick Pipe Band. There are walks for all abilities and shorter walks around Thurso will be led by the Step it up Highland team.
