SCOTS IN LONDON - St Andrews Day in London - Events to toast St Andrew Patron Saint of Scotland

St Andrews Day is fast approaching and there are a fair number of great Scottish events being held in London to celebrate the life of St Andrew the Patron Saint of Scotland.

St Andrews Day is fast approaching and there are a fair number of great Scottish events being held in London to celebrate the life of St Andrew the Patron Saint of Scotland. Here are just a few ideas:

It's that time of the year again when Scots everywhere muster to the roaring call of the beautiful bagpipe. The two to three months between the lead up to St Andrews Day on 30th November and Burns Night on 25th January are now getting so packed with Scottish events and festivities that the term Ramadram could easily be used as an appropriate title. Ramadram begins with the coming of St Andrews Day the national celebration of the life of St Andrew the Patron Saint of Scotland. This year is no different. So why not grab your kilt and sporran, tartan scarfs, Scottish jerseys, See You Jimmy hats, Saltire Flags, Lion Rampants, Thistles, Shortbread, Irn-Bru, Highland Spring and as much Whisky as you can handle and get together with Scottish friends and acquaintances for a good auld thingamayjig! Whether it's just a simple toast in a bar with friends or a manic ceilidh or posh charity ball participating is what it's all about!

Why not head over to Albannach, the Scottish Bar and Restaurant at 66 Trafalgar Square for a wee nip of Scotch Whisky or a big dram if you're feeling frisky. This year, Albannach is offering a £65 per person four course supper complete with a whisky cocktail and table service from a specialist whisky sommelier. There are two sittings starting at 6.30pm and again at 9pm. Bookings can be made by calling 0207 930 0066. Or check out our SCOTSIN Scottish Business Index entry for Albannach - click here .

Hootananny Brixton and the Rob Roy Bar in Sale Place, Paddington are also worth remembering when it comes to raising a glass to Saint Andrew. Both are well-known Scottish pubs in London and are traditional bars with a well kent atmosphere. Your See You Jimmy hat and Tartan Army saltires and Lion Rampants will not be out of place amongst the Scottish clientele on St Andrews Night and bar prices are reasonable effort to accommodate an extra nip to toast this special occasion.
