“As we enter the final strait in the race for the 2014 Games, I am
absolutely delighted that one of the largest companies in the world has
thrown its considerable weight behind Scotland’s Bid.
“Winning the Games would be an incredible result for our city and
our country. This week we submit our final plans to the Games

whole world will want to watch, one that will help athletes have the
performance of their lives.
“Diageo are the latest big name to join the team. Thousands of
Scots, companies and organisations have Backed the Bid. Working
together we can win these Games for Scotland.”
Bryan Donaghey, Managing Director for Diageo Scotland commented,
“Diageo is delighted to support the Commonwealth Games bid – not
just in financial terms, but also through the huge enthusiasm and
encouragement of our 4,000 employees across Scotland. This is an
exciting time and along with the whole country, we believe that Glasgow
is extremely well placed to win the bid.
“The Commonwealth Games gives Glasgow and Scotland a platform to
showcase our sporting talent, our high standards of achievement, and
