It is Just One Year To Go until the announcement of the 2014 Commonwealth Games winning city.

The decision is to be made at the Commonwealth Games Federation's General Assembly in Sri Lanka on 9 November 2007. Glasgow is competing against Halifax, Canada and Abuja, Nigeria in the race for the twentieth games.

To mark the occasion, pupils from Whitehill Learning Community in the East End of Glasgow joined the City’s Lord Provost, Liz Cameron, for an early morning PE lesson. Sporting heroes and Commonwealth Games medalists Lee McConnell and Todd Cooper were also on hand to put the pupils through their paces and to show their support for Glasgow’s 2014 Bid.

Lord Provost, Liz Cameron, is urging anyone who has not yet shown their support and backed the bid, to do so now.

"It’s the people and pupils of the city who really do sum up the excitement generated by Glasgow’s bid. Our will to win has not only gripped this city, but the country as well," she said.

"In the year since we launched our campaign, tens of thousands of Scots have signed up. The numbers are incredible, but we are looking for even more support. We want to show the world that Scotland really wants these games."
