The London Edinburgh Academical Club exists to provide a framework for Accies in, and around, London to make contact and to meet each other. Its main social activity is its Annual Dinner, but other less formal events are notified to members, some involving representatives of other Scottish Schools in London. Membership(which is free!) is extended to all Accies known to be living in the London areaand the South of England, and to any other Accies who would like to attend ourevents. (This includes a few Accies resident in Scotland who regularly comedown to London.) The Club maintains a register of members' addresses, and iskeen to hear from Accies moving to the London area or the South-East of England, or at University in or near London, and to makecontact with them. We are always eager to hear from new Accies whohave recently come to London, or are in the South-East of England, and invitethem to leave their details on our contact page. The Club also organises severalgolf events, including regular matches with the London clubs of other Edinburghschools. Details of this year's events are on the golfpage. Annual DinnerThe London Edinburgh Academical Club holds its Annual Dinner atthe Caledonian Club, in Halkin Street, London SW1, on a Friday inMarch, at 18.45 for 19.15. All members of the Club are notified of thisevent by email where possible, or by physical mail. All Accies are most welcome, andthey may bring male guests. The Annual Dinner is a very convivial occasion which allowsAccies of all ages to meet each other, and spans seven decades of life at theAcademy. In recent years, we have seen a number of female Accies attending theDinner, and they are most welcome. Typically, between 50 and 80 Accies attendthe Dinner, and encouragingly, at least 20% of those attending are intheir twenties. Last year's Annual Dinner was held on Friday 10th March2006, at the Caledonian Club. Our Guest Speaker was Garry Bowe, EA Staff 1988-2000, and now Deputy Headmaster of Wellingborough School. This year's Dinner will be held on Friday 23rd March 2007, at 18.45 for 19.15. We are delighted that Major General Robert Baxter CBE (EA 1965-71), the senior serving military Accie, will be our Guest of Honour. If you have not received an invitation to this year's Dinner by email or post, and would like to attend, please contact Tim Walker , our Social Secretary, on 0207 2238978. We would be very pleased to see you at the Dinner.
