The Scottish Education System in widely regarded as one of the best in the World. Here's a brief overview of the Scottish Education Structure and System.
The Scottish Education System is one of the best in the World.
 
Children attend school in Scotland via the following structure: 
  • > Pre-school                - from age three to four
  • > Primary School         - from age five to twelve
  • > Secondary School    - from Five to sixteen.
Your child's education is paid for by taxation and administered through your Local Authority. All children must attend school from age 5-16 although you have the option to send your child to an independant school, find out more at:
 

What age do children go to school?

Children can attend pre-school from age three to four and begin primary school from age five. 

All children between the ages of five and sixteen must receive education.


Do I need to register my child?

You must register your child for both primary and secondary school.

Your local authority will tell you which school your child can attend and give you guidance on what to do next.
