Hypothetical Scots In London Scottish Cultural Centre (Community Services)
To exist primarily to provide those of Scottish descent with a meeting place in London. The website would provide details of the centre, its officers, its activities and facilities as well as information on forthcoming Scottish events in London and links to news from other Scottish societies across the world.

The website would provide details of the centre, its officers, its activities and facilities as well as information on forthcoming Scottish events in London and links to news from other Scottish societies across the world.

Scottish Cultural Centre (Community Services)
The Scottish Cultural Centre in London would be set up to respond to the unmet needs amongst Scottish people for a culturally sensitive and supportive welfare advice, advocacy and training service which celebrates and promotes Scottish culture and counteracts the negative discrimination which Scottish people face as an ethnic minority, especially in terms of their access to employment and mainstream provision.

Future Plans
To exist primarily to provide those of Scottish descent with a meeting place in London. The website would provide details of the centre, its officers, its activities and facilities as well as information on forthcoming Scottish events in London and links to news from other Scottish societies across the world.

i. Scottish Cultural Centre
The aims of the hypothetical Scots In London centre would be split into two parts, namely a front door social, business and cultural service and a back-door welfare service:
  1. to provide facilities to be used by Scottish cultural, educational, governmental and business organisations;
  2. to provide a suitable headquarters for ScotsIn;
  3. to provide permanent offices for Scottish universities and other organisations that want a full-time presence;
  4. to provide showcase display areas for the promotion of Scottish products, events and talents;
  5. to provide a large function suite for dinners, speakers, art exhibitions etc;
  6. to act as a focal point for Scots, those with an appreciation of and vested interest in Scotland and the best of all things Scottish;
  7. to provide temporary office space for young Scottish entrepreneurs;
  8. to provide hot desks for Scottish businessmen while in the city;
  9. to provide temporary offices for small Scottish firms and entrepreneurs that require workspace and infrastructure;
  10. to provide a conference room;
  11. to seek high end Scottish retail operations to take retail units in an adjoining Scottish retail centre.
  12. to provide a range of Scottish cultural programmes, such as: (a) provide a programme of Scottish language classes;
    (b) provide classes in Scottish music;
    (c) provide classes in Scottish dancing;
    (d) host an Scottish book fair;
    (e) plan and provide an annual Scottish Festival of Scottish Music;
    (f) provide key Scottish sporting events on big screens;
    (g) host and facilitate a range of conferences and meetings on various issues of concern to the Scottish community as well as informing the broader community of the complexities of Scottish culture and history.
  13. to provide a venue for Scottish organisations to work from and meet up in by: (a) providing a well managed and resourced centre; (b) providing accommodation for complementary Scottish organisations to work from; (c) provide accommodation for a wide range of voluntary organisations to meet in; (d) ensuring the centre complies with all statutory requirements in terms of service and delivery; (e) deliver services in an inclusive and culturally sensitive manner.
