Historically, the network was London-centric, but over the last year, as the organisation has transitioned from Scots In London to the Scotsin main brand, with Scots In London (SIL) retained as the London sub-brand, more and more subscribers have been signing up from across Scotland and around the UK, and internationally as the network opens to Scots around the world. This simple, but highly effective formula, has helped Scotsin grow very fast within a short space of time from its small Scots In London roots (more details below), to being established at the centre of the 400,000 strong Scots in London community, equivalent to Scotland’s third largest city, and on into an organisation which holds events in England and Scotland, and soon internationally. 
The new Scotsin.com website has just been completed and is due to be launched in November to cater for future growth as the organisation expands. Scotsin plans to grew the Scotsin brand to become synonymous with the word “Scots” and to connect SCOTS IN London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Scotland, England, as well as America, Canada, Australia and around the World - SCOTS IN Business - Advertising, Arts, Banking, Education, Finance, HR, IT, Media, PR, Recruitment, Sport, Tourism etc. Hence the name Scotsin - created "for Scots, by Scots".
The next Scotsin event is scheduled for November in London. There will be a Scottish business networking theme to the evening - Scotsin the City - and there will be keynote Scottish speakers. The event will also toast our relationship with our sponsors, pre-eminent Scottish Law Firm, Maclay, Murray and Spens (MMS). The evening will take place on the top floor of 1 London Wall, the prestigious new premises of MMS, with stunning skyline views over London and The City, opposite the Museum of London.

Scotsin is the brainchild of Eddie Tait, a 35 year old Edinburgh-born Scottish professional, former investment banker and prolific networker. Scotsin began life in 2001 as Scots In London when former pupils of 16 Scots met up from two Edinburgh schools met up for drinks. The evening was a great success and so it was decided to hold similar events on a quarterly basis. The events grew in popularity and scale quarter-on-quarter and as word spread more Scottish groups and individuals were keen to join in; two Edinburgh Schools became Scottish Schools, then members from Scottish universities groups joined in following by sporting and heritage clubs, charities, ordinary Scots and Scottish business people.
The quarterly Scots In London events quickly blossomed into major Scottish gatherings, with a regular attendance of 250-400 Scots. Scots In London complements established niche Scottish organisations, and clubs and societies, such as the exclusive Globalscot and The Caledonian Club networks, and the well-established networks including The Royal Caledonian Ball the oldest charity ball in the world, the world famous London Scottish Rugby Club, The Royal Scottish Corporation the charity set up in 1603 for needy Scots living in London, and the Burns Club of London No.1 in the World Burns Club roll, and Scottish businesses, charities and individuals, by distributing their information far and wide via email newsletters to a larger Scottish base than any of the organisations have on their own.
In 2005, Scotch Whisky giants Whyte and Mackay were recruited as lead sponsor and thanks to the support of then Chief Executive, Bob Brannan, held a glitzy launch with 300 Scots, with Scottish Rugby Internationalist Kenny Logan, as guest speaker. This sponsorship deal was a major catalyst in the decision to move to turn Scots In London from an informal social organisation into a company based in Scotland (SC299011), with the creation of our first website (www.scotsinlondon.co.uk). In 2006, Scotsin were also joined by Maclay Murray and Spens LLP, one of the leading Scottish legal firms, who signed up as key legal category sponsor. Later that year, Scots In London were invited to hold the first-ever bash in the new GBP 6.5m wing of The Caledonian Club, the exclusive Scottish private members’ club in Belgravia, a week before it was officially opened by HRH The Queen. 
365 Scots In London attended our St Andrew’s Extravaganza – a special evening with business and social networking, piping, pianist, fiddler, the Scottish Tenor Nicky Spence, a taste of Scottish cuisine, some Scottish football, 3 Scottish charity stalls, a book-signing followed by a pop ceilidh. A great night was had by all. This was followed up by a very successful Bonniest Burns Supper bash, with many notable speakers including Nigel Griffiths MP, then Deputy Leader of the House of Commons (pictured right). The event was filmed by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (aired 19 April 2008 as part of Scotland documentary on the Foreign Correspondent show on ABC1) and five photographers and a great band ensured a memorable evening.
Scotsin is also keen to promote the creation of a Scottish business and cultural centres around the world. Scotsin is also keen to get involved in high-profile Scottish events (days, weekends, weeks of celebration) based around the Scottish festival season (recently termed "Ramadram" or "Ramadramnhaggis") starting on: St Andrew’s Day (30th November) through Hogmanay (December 31st) and on to Burns Night - January the month of Burns Suppers based around the celebration of the birth of Scotland's Greatest Poet, Robert Burns (January 25th). Scotsin are also keen to support the celebration of Scotland Week (April 6th) and special days, weeks and weekends of Scottish festivities.
Scotsin is fresh, modern, innovative, entrepreneurial, spirited and connects, promotes, informs, activates, educates, enriches, inspires, motivates, complements and supports positive messages about Scots, Scotland and Scottish themes (traditional and contemporary) for business, social, pleasure, cultural, and fundraising purposes for mutual benefit via networking, events, news and PR.
